Gethsemane members, friends, and relatives have been camping at Calumet for a relaxing weekend for about 30 years. It is an opportunity to enjoy being together in a beautiful setting on Lake Ossipee in Freedom, NH. Calumet is the site of New England Synod’s Outdoor Ministry. The camp is located on a beautiful beach area of the lake, and everyone is welcome to join us for the weekend or for the day.
The weekend lends an opportunity to be together and do just what one wants to do–swim, canoe, kayak, sit on the beach, shop in North Conway, eat ice cream at Bobby Sue’s, hike, mountain climbing and much more. The weekend is mostly unstructured.
Meals are served at Calumet and we, as a group, gather on the beach for a barbecue on Saturday evening. If you enjoy camping, you should get a camp site, if you don’t, you can stay in an individual room in the Conference Center or one of the outlying cabins made for families. Calumet is close enough you can just drive up for the day.
The women’s annual retreat (normally every June) allows women to spend time with one another to encourage, learn, pray and reflect together in the presence of the Lord. The weekend is full of laughter, occasional tears and a whole lot of relaxation. It’s fun!
The schedule for the weekend is open to allow time for worship, hanging out together, hiking, napping, swimming and just relaxing. Everything is provided, so just pack your Bible, warm clothes for the cool evening weather and good walking shoes. Come prepared for an inspirational, fun weekend!
If you enjoy singing, the choir is the place to be. Rehearsals are a time of time of laughter, fun, fellowship and sharing our love of music. For more info, contact Director of Music , Diane Destrempe.
The handbell choir adds a “joyful noise” to our worship experience. All are welcome to join the handbell choir! No previous experience is necessary and you’ll learn the basics of handbell ringing while praising God with beautiful music. Ages high school and up are welcome!
We play in church approximately once a month. This is a relaxed multi-age group of players that has a lot of fun together. Talent and experience is varied but all are needed and welcome. For more info, contact Director of Music , Diane Destrempe.
